Here is the story of Spider Woman, who is honored on this keyring made by Hopi Silversmith, Weaver Selina , as told to us by Dorothy Poleyma-Kyasyousie. “KoKang-so-wutee is a magical being who has the power to weave cloaks to perform feats such as bringing life and healing. She is also the entity to whom you pray for artistic ability.” Other references tell us that she is gentle, kind and will aid those who are in trouble. A very different way of looking at spiders! The design on her back of the sprout, seems to be bringing life in the form of food.

This piece measures 1 1/8 by 2 1/8 inches and carries Weaver’s hallmark, the Rising Sun or Sun’s Forehead on the reverse side.
