The Hopis believe that because birds fly to the heavens, close to Father Sun, their feathers carry their prayers. Around Hopiland, long sticks with feathers tied to the top may be seen across the landscape. As the wind blows, pieces of the feathers detach and are taken to the skies...along with the prayers of the People. Hopi Silversmith, Anderson Koinva has designed such a "prayer shrine" to be placed on this highly polished key ring. Measuring 1 3/8 inches in diameter, Anderson's affixed his hallmark, the Rising Sun and a Snake on the reverse side.
